As you may have noticed, I have been quiet on my blog lately. There are many reasons your ever lovable Grey Beard Biker has been mostly silent – and it certainly has not been because he hasn’t had anything to say. Primarily, it’s because he is beyond disgusted. Our country is suffering through a crisis right now – one which has nothing to do with our president, Donald J. Trump. It has everything to do with the way the Leftists are moving to impeach him.

Today, House Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-CA) announced a House Resolution formalizing the impeachment inquiry of our president. This has come after several weeks of closed door testimony presented only to Democrat caucus members. This is not RIGHT!

Republicans Push Back

Last week, members of the House Republican caucus pushed back, storming the hearing room during the closed-door testimony. My U.S. Representative, Mark Green, M.D. (R-TN), had this to say about Speaker Pelosi, “Speaker Pelosi has tyrannically commandeered the House of Representatives. As if she thinks the Founders wanted a government of Pelosi, by Pelosi, for Pelosi…”

The citizens of the United States definitely deserve better. If a partisan group of politicians attempt to impeach a duly elected president, there should be complete transparency during the entire process. It should not be a one-sided hyper-partisan affair taking place behind closed hardwood doors. I applaud all the legislators who took a stand against this political witch hunt, especially Representative Mark Green!

To provide an illustration of Pelosi’s secret impeachment actions, one need look no farther than a Tweet from U.S. Representative Steve Scalise (R-LA):

Yes, that’s right, 75% of the U.S. Representatives have been excluded from these hearings. That leaves 230 million Americans’ voices silenced during these anarchical proceedings occurring in the “People’s House.” This is truly unique to American politics – and not in a good way.

When can a president be impeached?

Our Constitution is very explicit regarding the impeachment and removal from office of the president. Article II, Section 4 states, “The President, Vice President and all civil Officers of the United States, shall be removed from Office on Impeachment for, and Conviction of, Treason, Bribery, or other high Crimes and Misdemeanors.”

If it is believed that the president has committed an act of treason, bribery, high crimes or misdemeanors Article I, Section 2, Clause 5 of the U.S. Constitution provides “The House of Representatives shall chuse their Speaker and other Officers; and shall have the sole Power of Impeachment.” This is where we are at today with Pelosi’s impeachment inquiry. This procedure is essentially the convening of a legislative grand jury.

If the House of Representatives votes to impeach, they are formally indicting the president of these high crimes or misdemeanors. At this point, the matter is turned over to the Senate for trial. This proceeding is covered by Article I, Section 3, Clause 7 of the Constitution: “The Senate shall have the sole Power to try all Impeachments. When sitting for that Purpose, they shall be on Oath or Affirmation. When the President of the United States is tried, the Chief Justice shall preside: And no Person shall be convicted without the Concurrence of two thirds of the Members present.”

If the senate convicts the president, Article I, Section 3, Clause 8 states, “Judgment in Cases of Impeachment shall not extend further than to removal from Office, and disqualification to hold and enjoy any Office of honor, Trust or Profit under the United States: but the Party convicted shall nevertheless be liable and subject to Indictment, Trial, Judgment and Punishment, according to Law.”

So, from all of this, we have learned that the president can be impeached for treason, bribery, high crimes or misdemeanors. Treason and bribery are fairly well understood. But what are “high crimes or misdemeanors?” According to Dennis J. Owens, who attempted to define its meaning after President Richard M. Nixon resigned, the phrase is derived from British Parliamentary proceedings. Owens quoted Supreme Court associate justice Joseph Story, who served from 1811-1845, “[Impeachment was] “a proceeding purely of a political nature. It is not so much designed to punish an offender as to secure the state against gross official misdemeanors.”

Furthermore, Owens went on to explain that high crimes consist of felonies and misdemeanors are a class of crimes which are more minor in nature. This would lead one to believe that impeachment is a very partisan affair which the House of Representatives can initiate for any number of purely political motives. Fortunately, our Founding Fathers were very intelligent men and required that the Senate hold an actual trial, with 2/3 of its members voting to convict and the chief justice presiding over the proceedings to ensure it is held in a non-partisan, equitable way.

Grey Beard Biker’s Conclusion

The leftist Democrats have been threatening the impeachment of Donald Trump since he was president elect. The Mueller Report was supposed to provide proof of his crimes, which would lead to an easy impeachment and conviction by the Senate. The impetus for the Mueller affair was Trump colluding with the Russians – which has largely been discredited with Attorney General Bill Barr going so far as to appoint a U.S. attorney to determine if the FISA warrants were improperly obtained by the FBI. Over the past week Fox News has reported that this probe is now criminal in nature, with former FBI officials (Comey, McCabe, etc.) possibly under grand jury scrutiny. Additional officials could also face criminal prosecution including James Clapper (former Director of National Intelligence) and John Brennan (former CIA Director) – both of which have consistently been anti-Trump.

The newest accusation, by Representative Adam Schiff (D-CA), which was the impetus for the impeachment inquiry, is that Trump threatened to hold up military aid to Ukraine if they did not investigate Democratic presidential hopeful Joe Biden, and his son Hunter Biden. (Official transcripts of Trump’s conversation with the Ukrainian president do not reflect anything which would approach impeachable high crimes or misdemeanors.) The younger Biden had a business relationship with the Ukranian natural gas company Burisma Holdings. Their dealings, while Biden was vice president, would provide Hunter Biden with lucrative payments for sitting on the company’s board. Ironically enough, the very thing which Schiff has accused President Trump of doing – a quid pro quo – is exactly what then VP Biden did with Ukraine:

The saddest, and most maddening thing, regarding the impeachment inquiry, is that Schiff, who is heading up the impeachment investigation, had knowledge of the whistleblower’s complaint before it was even filed. It was reported by The Federalist Papers earlier this month that Schiff’s staff had met with the CIA whistleblower days before he filed his complaint. This whole thing is fraught with potential coercion between Schiff and the unnamed individual behind the complaint – a complaint the White House had blocked lawmakers from seeing.

Inevitably, the drama will continue as the House of Representatives move towards the impeachment of President Trump. Over the coming weeks, they will likely vote to impeach along partisan lines. This is a dangerous development for Speaker Pelosi who is caught in between the Socialist Left portion of her caucus and the more moderate Democratic lawmakers who are urging caution – many of whom witnessed how the impeachment of President Clinton hurt the Republicans during the following election.

Unless there is some extremely compelling proof of “high crimes or misdemeanors,” the Senate will not vote to convict President Trump. This will help the Republicans take back the house and increase their majority in the senate in 2020. Additionally, this will ensure what Speaker Pelosi fears the most – the reelection of Donald J. Trump in 2020.

It’s happening right before our very eyes. America is in a state of decay. What happened to our great country? Our Founding Fathers, nearly 2 1/2 centuries ago, took 13 small British colonies and declared them independent of the British throne. They knew that the throne would consider them traitors and that they may all swing from the nearest tree. But these brave men created the greatest country on the face of the earth. Since then, we cleansed ourself from the shackles of slavery – with a loss of nearly 10% of our men – in the Civil War, fought fascism and Nazism in Europe and became the world’s greatest superpower. The Patriots who founded our country, and those who paid the supreme sacrifice to promote freedom, must be ashamed of what we have become.

Main Stream Media

One need look no further than the current Main Stream Media (MSM) to see the decay. While they claim to be presenting the news, nearly everything they report as “real” news is shrouded in a blanket of ideology. Their ratings have continued to decline over the past decade, but their followers believe what they spew because it validates their own beliefs. This is not journalism – this is the promotion of one political viewpoint over another – which is not American. 

Leftist Politicians

This same MSM provides a platform for politicians they agree with: Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, Elizabeth Warren, Kamala Harris, Robert “Beto” O’Rourke, Ilhan Omar, Kirsten Gillibrand, Cory Booker, Bernie Sanders and all the other leftist politicians. Some of those they are providing a microphone to preach anti-American garbage, anti-Semitic trash and socialist doctrine. These politicians do not hold the same views as the average American and are chipping away at what has made America great for over 200 years.

Their policies promote open borders, expansion of the welfare state, Medicare for All, free secondary education and the slow erosion of our Second Amendment. They cannot win on the battlefield of ideas. Their platform is hollow and revolves around class warfare, racism and redistribution of wealth. Simply put, they have to give things away to receive votes. Unfortunately, the entitlements they promote will come at a punitive cost to the American taxpayer.

Antifa

Antifa is a stain on the great fabric of our country. While peaceful protests and civil disobedience have been key to the advancement of our great nation, Antifa represents neither. Antifa is an acronym for Anti-Fascist and represents a broad militant group. Fascism, according to Merriam-Webster, is defined as:

“A political philosophy, movement, or regime that exalts nation and often race above the individual and that stands for a centralized autocratic government headed by a dictatorial leader, severe economic and social regimentation, and forcible suppression of opposition.”

Nazism during Adolph Hitler’s formation of the Third Reich has many of the same traits as fascism: nation above its people, centralized autocratic government, a dictatorial leader and suppression of opposition.

Antifa claims to be anti-fascist, often trying to suggest President Donald J. Trump is a fascist, but this is simply not true. Trump is not a fascist. He does not forcibly suppress those who disagree with him. Rather, he calls out his opposition to ensure the people understand what he is dealing with. He is not in charge of an autocratic government. He is the chief executive of a government which still has three distinct branches. Lastly, Trump does not promote the government over the people. He understands that the government is the subject of the people and not the other way around. 

Antifa, on the other hand, is fascist in nearly every way. While their chosen name may lead one to believe they are truly anti-fascist, their actions do not support that position. They are protesting a government in which the people vote their legislators and president into office – far from an autocratic form of government. Unlike in a fascist government, the President of the United States can only serve two terms. Antifa members have become violent against many of those they protest, recently beating up a gay reporter, confronting Pro-Life marchers, attacking Trump supporters and blocking traffic. This is nothing like the civil disobedience Henry David Thoreau promoted from Walden Pond. Lastly, they claim to be against white supremacy but come to their protests behind masks – much like the Ku-Klux-Klan did during the 19th and early 20th centuries. This is unacceptable in a country which was built upon providing its citizens the freedoms enumerated in our Bill of Rights.

Indoctrination of the People

The Democrats having been losing in the arena of ideas since the Ronald Reagan years. Since the election of William Jefferson Clinton as president, this country has been moving more towards a far-left ideology – one drip at a time. Both Hillary Clinton and Barack H. Obama are disciples of the teachings of Saul Alinksky. Alinsky was the first “community organizer” and wrote the book, “Rules for Radicals” – which provides the modern Democrat Party many of the tactics they use today. The current hatchling of Democrat 2020 hopefuls, and their minions in congress, have not mastered all of Alinsky’s Rules, but some of them they have. Grey Beard has graded their mastery of each one:

  1. Power is not what you have, but what the enemy thinks you have: B- (they attempt to show their power, but the majority of Americans still recognize them as weak – especially on the laws of the land)
  2. Never go outside the experience of your people: D– (they are constantly failing here – with the same tired old faces spewing the same old hatred)
  3. Whenever possible, go outside the experience of your enemy: C- (Trump usually has them tongue tied and resorting to the same old talking points)
  4. Ridicule is man’s most potent weapon: B+ (Ridicule and class warfare is literally the only thing many of them are accomplished at)
  5. A good tactic is one that your people enjoy: A- (Their people love to see them attack Trump, capitalism and religion)
  6. A tactic that drags on for too long becomes a drag: F (Their call for impeachment and continued investigations of Russian Collusion is way beyond its expiration date – move on already)
  7. Keep the pressure on: B (One must give them credit – they are trying)
  8. The threat is usually more terrifying than the thing itself: C (most of their plans are still quite terrifying to Patriots)
  9. The major premise for tactics is the development of operations that will maintain a constant pressure upon the opposition: B (They have been building their organization through societal indoctrination for many years)
  10. If you push a negative hard enough, it will push through and become a positive: B (Medicare for all is a good example of their success – the more moderate Democrats have been slowly coming around to this)
  11. The price of a successful attack is a constructive alternative: C- (This may be the least understood of Alinsky’s Rules – the newest socialist members are trying to do this by throwing out something really unacceptable – like the Green New Deal – with the more moderate Dems offering a compromise which a short time ago no one would have ever seriously considered – this is perhaps the most dangerous of the Rules)
  12. Pick the target, freeze it, personalize it, and polarize it: A+ (Credit where credit is due – the Left has built an entire political agenda around attacking Trump and impeaching him)

Grey Beard Biker’s Summary

Do not underestimate the power these far-left ideologues have to fundamentally change our country. For years they have been formulating their tactics and have quietly worked to take over our education system, starting with the most malleable in society: our children. The leftists knew this was a long-term play – sowing the minds of these children would take a great deal of time before bearing fruit. Today’s Millennials represent a bumper crop for the Left. They have been patient, and unfortunately, they have succeeded in brainwashing an entire generation. All of us Patriots need to start taking these young people back. The risk of not doing so is beyond grave.

Staff Sgt. David Bellavia

U.S. Army Staff Sergeant (Ret.) David Bellavia was awarded our country’s highest military honor, by President Donald Trump, on June 25, 2019. This is the first time a living Iraq War veteran has received this prestigious award. There have been five others who have received the award for actions in Iraq – all posthumously. By comparison, there are 13 living Medal of Honor recipients from the Afghanistan War with another four receiving their medal posthumously. Since the United States entered the War on Terror, in 2001, nearly 2.8 million soldiers have served in either Iraq or Afghanistan – with a total of 5.4 million total deployments (source RAND Corporation). The Grey Beard Biker is pleased to see a living Medal of Honor recipient from the Iraq War.

Battle and Mission

Ballavia was deployed to Iraq, as part of Operation Iraqi Freedom (OIF), in February 2004. Just days into the Second Battle of Fallujah, his 3rd Platoon was tasked with a pre-dawn mission to clear a block of 12 buildings in support of other soldiers fighting door-to-door. Intelligence believed there were significant al-Qaida forces holed up in the buildings. In order to take the city back, these buildings would need to be cleared, one at a time. Having cleared the first nine buildings, Ballavia’s platoon found itself caught in an ambush when it entered the tenth structure.

Bellavia’s Medal of Honor Citation

The President of the United States of America, authorized by an Act of Congress, March 3rd, 1863, has awarded in the name of Congress the Medal of Honor to Staff Sergeant David G. Bellavia, United States Army, for conspicuous gallantry and intrepidity at the risk of his own life above and beyond the call of duty.

Staff Sergeant David G. Ballavia distinguished himself by acts of gallantry and intrepidity above and beyond the call of duty on November 10, 2004, while serving as a squad leader in support of Operation Phantom Fury in Fallujah, Iraq.

While clearing a house, a squad from Staff Sergeant Ballavia’s platoon became trapped within a room by intense enemy fire coming from a fortified position under the stairs leading to the second floor. Recognizing the immediate severity of the situation, and with disregard for his own safety, Staff Sergeant Bellavia retrieved an automatic weapon and entered the doorway of the house to engage the insurgents.

With enemy rounds impacting around him, Staff Sergeant Bellavia fired at the enemy position at a cyclic rate, providing covering fire that allowed the squad to break contact and exit the house.

A Bradley Fighting Vehicle was brought forward to suppress the enemy; however, due to high walls surrounding the house, it could not fire directly at the enemy position. Staff Sergeant Bellavia then re-entered the house and again came under intense enemy fire. He observed an enemy insurgent preparing to launch a rocket-propelled grenade at his platoon. Recognizing the grave danger the grenade posed to his fellow soldiers, Staff Sergeant Bellavia assaulted the enemy position, killing one insurgent and wounding another who ran to a different part of the house.

Staff Sergeant Bellavia, realizing he had an un-cleared, darkened room to his back, moved to clear it. As he entered, an insurgent came down the stairs firing at him. Simultaneously, the previously wounded insurgent reemerged and engaged Staff Sergeant Bellavia. Staff Sergeant Bellavia, entering further into the darkened room, returned fire and eliminated both insurgents. Staff Sergeant Bellavia then received enemy fire from another insurgent emerging from a closet in the darkened room.

Exchanging gunfire, Staff Sergeant Bellavia pursued the enemy up the stairs and eliminated him. Now on the second floor, Staff Sergeant Bellavia moved to a door that opened onto the roof. At this point, a fifth insurgent leapt from the third floor roof onto the second floor roof. Staff Sergeant Bellavia engaged the insurgent through a window, wounding him in the back and legs, and caused him to fall from the roof.

Acting on instinct to save the members of his platoon from an imminent threat, Staff Sergeant Bellavia ultimately cleared an entire enemy-filled house, destroyed four insurgents, and badly wounded a fifth. Staff Sergeant Bellavia’s bravery, complete disregard for his own safety, and unselfish and courageous actions are in keeping with the finest traditions of military service and reflect great credit upon himself and the United States Army.

Since the Second Battle of Fallujah

Bellavia would remain in the U.S. Army for six years, retiring in 2005. He would co-found Vets for Freedom, serving as their Vice Chairman. In 2007, Bellavia published, House to House: An Epic Memoir of War, co-written with John R. Bruning. Today, Bellavia is president of EMPact America.

It was not difficult to pick a winner for the Grey Beard Biker’s Bloviator of the Day Award. Last Friday, Obama’s first term attorney general, stated he was, “surprised and extremely disappointed” by Attorney General William Barr.

Holder: “I actually thought he was an institutionalist..”

Speaking during an appearance on Iowa Public Television’s Iowa Press, Holder would go on to say, “I actually thought that he was an institutionalist and I thought that he would actually be at odds with President Trump relatively soon in his tenure, and he has proved to be anything but that.”

Holder would go on to say, “[Barr] has become the defender of the president, a protector of the president and has done things inconsistent with what I think an attorney general is supposed to do. I think he has tended to think of himself as the lawyer for the president as opposed to the attorney for the people of this country.” How ironic is this coming from a previous attorney general who was held in contempt of congress for withholding information on the Fast & Furious operation – an operation which resulted in the death of Border Patrol Agent, Brian A. Terry? Obama would later claim Executive Privilege to all documents related to Fast & Furious, forever making the congressional contempt of congress charge meaningless.

Your lovable Grey Beard Biker remembers clearly when Holder stated in a 2013 interview, on Tom Joyner’s radio show, “I’m still enjoying what I’m doing, there’s still work to be done. I’m still the President’s (Obama) wing-man, so I’m there with my boy…”

I am writing you today because of your childish antics before the start of yesterday’s game against Thailand at the World Cup France 2019. Like so many athletes and celebrities, you have chosen to use a sanctioned event as a stage to display your intolerance. You are in a unique position, admired by children, teenagers and young adults, alike. With your unique position you have a responsibility to your country – a responsibility to act like a mature adult and show respect to our national symbol – the American Flag.

Us Americans back home do not care if you have come out as gay. We admire your courage doing so. We also do not care if you dislike our president, Donald J. Trump. But, he is your president – and this is your country. The people of this vast, great country are largely God fearing, love their homeland and honor their military. For you to ignore our National Anthem, while representing the United States on foreign soil, is beyond disgusting.

Quoting from your recent interview, “I’ll probably never put my hand over my heart. I’ll probably never sing the national anthem again.” – Megan Rapinoe, Yahoo News – May 2019.

This old Grey Beard Biker gives you credit. You did exactly what you said you would do. And while a small minority of social justice warriors applaud your actions, you’re an embarrassment to patriots all over the United States.

But you were not done spouting your nasty rhetoric. In the interview, you went on to say, “Because I’m as talented as I am, I get to be here, you don’t get to tell me if I can be here or not. So it’s kind of a good ‘fuck you’ to any sort of inequality or bad sentiments that the Trump administration might have towards people who don’t look exactly like him. Which, God help us if we all looked like him. Scary. Really Scary. Ahh, disturbing.”

Your narcissism knows no limits. But obviously your intelligence does. Interest in soccer – be it youth, high school, collegiate or professional – has grown dramatically in the United States. Stars like yourself have contributed to its rise in popularity. But a stupid act, like yours yesterday, can start to chip away at the sport quickly. U.S. Soccer recognized this immediately, issuing a new rule requiring all players “stand and honor the flag.” – A very proper response.

But your response to their new rule was equally as asinine as your antics on field, “Using this blanketed patriotism as a defense against what the protest actually is was pretty cowardly. I think the NFL does it. I felt like the statement from U.S. Soccer, and then the rule they made without ever talking to me (like your input would have changed anything), that was the same as what the NFL was doing – just to not have the conversation, to try to just stop me from doing what I’m doing instead of at least having a conversation, and trying to figure out a [solution] that makes sense to everyone.” – Megan Rapinoe interview with Yahoo Sports.

Obviously, “…makes sense to everyone.” – is code speak for makes sense to you.

Well, bless your heart. You may be the captain of your team, but you are a disgrace to your country. The National Anthem, and the flag it represents, are about something much larger than you. And I know you are very large and important in your own estimation. Your words prove you believe thus. The Stars and Stripes – our national symbol – and the National Anthem – were not tarnished yesterday by your actions. Only you were. They will continue to represent the greatest country in the world. They will continue to stand for liberty, freedom, the American dream and patriots who have provided their full measure of devotion to protect them. You, on the other hand, will only be seen as a childish narcissist who believes the world revolves around only themselves. Congratulations, you are officially in a league of your own.

US Women’s Soccer vs. Thailand – June 11, 2019 – National Anthem

As I am sure you have figured out by now, your lovable old Grey Beard Biker loves military history – especially U.S. Military History. Yesterday was a day of remembrance for me, remembering all of our brave soldiers who participated in D-Day Normandy. In case you missed my article yesterday, you can find it HERE.

Last night, I watched President Donald J. Trump’s D-Day speech, delivered above Omaha Beach, in Normandy, France. Some of presidents have been fantastic speakers: Franklin D. Roosevelt, John F. Kennedy, Ronald Reagan – and even Barack Obama. I have never considered Trump an eloquent speaker. He often seems stiff to me. He absolutely nailed it yesterday. If you have not watched his speech, it is well worth the 30 minute time commitment to do so.

Trump’s speech received praise from some unexpected sources:

“This is perhaps the most on-message moment of Donald Trump’s presidency today.” – Jim Acosta, CNN White House Correspondent

“I’m also glad the president chose to have the discipline to stick to script and deliver what, again, I believe is the strongest speech of his presidency.” – Joe Scarborough, MSNBC morning host

The Medal of Honor, is the highest award given to a member of our military for valor on the battlefield – whether on land, sea or air. Originally designated the Congressional Medal of Honor, today it is referred to simply as the Medal of Honor.

Never having served in the U.S. Military, I am in awe of those who signed a contract with our government – a contract which can become due-and-payable with the service member’s life. But awe does not properly express how I feel when I see a soldier, sailor or airman receive this award in person. Most receive the honor posthumously. I have always been enamored with MoH recipients since I was in seventh grade and my English teacher, Mr. Hutton, used to read MoH citations at the start of class.

On October 17, 2018, President Donald J. Trump awarded Sergeant Major (Ret.), John L. Canley, of the United States Marine Corps, the Medal of Honor for his service during the Battle of Hue, Vietnam.

Citation:

The President of the United States, in the name of Congress, takes pleasure in awarding the Congressional Medal of Honor to Gunnery Sergeant John L. Canley, United States Marine Corps, for conspicuous gallantry and intrepidity, at the risk of his life above and beyond the call of duty in action against the enemy while serving as Company Gunnery Sergeant, Alpha Company, First Battalion, First Marines, First Marine Division, from 31 January to 6 February 1968, in the Republic of Vietnam. Alpha Company fought off multiple vicious attacks as it rapidly moved along the highway toward Hue City to relieve friendly forces that were surrounded by the enemy. Despite being wounded in these engagements, Gunnery Sergeant Canley repeatedly rushed across fire-swept terrain to carry his wounded marines to safety. After his commanding officer was severely wounded, Gunnery Sergeant Canley took command and led the company into Hue City. At Hue City, caught in a deadly crossfire from enemy machine gun positions, he set up a base of fire and maneuvered with a platoon in a flanking attack that eliminated several enemy positions. Retaining command of the company for three days, he led attacks against multiple enemy fortified positions while routinely braving enemy fire to carry wounded marines to safety. On 4 February, he led a group of marines into an enemy occupied building in Hue City. He moved into the open to draw fire, located the enemy, eliminated the threat, and expanded the company’s hold on the building room by room. Gunnery Sergeant Canley then gained position above the enemy strongpoint and dropped in a large satchel charge that forced the enemy to withdraw. On 6 February, during a fierce fire fight at a hospital compound, Gunnery Sergeant Canley twice scaled a wall, in full view of the enemy, to carry wounded marines to safety. By his undaunted courage, selfless sacrifice, and unwavering devotion to duty, Gunnery Sergeant Canley reflected great credit upon himself and upheld the highest traditions of the U.S. Marine Corps and the United States Naval Service.

Hollywood is full of “A-Listers.” In the Grey Beard Biker’s opinion, most of them are detached from any semblance of reality. They live their lives in a bubble and have nearly ZERO understanding of what it’s like to live in the real world – the place the rest of us call home. They get on their soap boxes and preach to the rest of us on how we should live, what we should believe in and what products we should use. Some threaten Sex Strikes (Alyssa Milano coming out against heart-beat abortion bills), blowing up the White House (Madonna), decapitating President Trump (Kathy Griffin), the proper use of the “P_ssy word” (Ashley Judd), leave the planet (Cher), invited Trump into a room to fight for 30 seconds (Mickey Rourke), push Trump off a cliff (Rosie O’Donnell), punch Trump in the face (Robert DeNiro), considered assassinating Donald Trump (Johnny Depp) and who can forget “that will be the end of the world!” (Jennifer Lawrence on the possible election of Trump).

With all this as a backdrop, it is refreshing to see one of the most prominent A-listers speaking with reason – Mark Wahlberg. Wahlberg, after the election of Donald J. Trump in 2016, spoke out about the celebrities who had paraded in front of the camera to denounce Trump, “A lot of celebrities did, do and shouldn’t.” He went on to say, “….They’re pretty much out of touch with the common person, the everyday guys out there providing for their family.”

While these Wahlberg quotes are almost three years old, it is worth noting that Wahlberg remains above the fray today, not putting out stupid rhetoric that could damage his brand, voicing his opinion on politicians and policies or telling the “common person” how they should live, what they should believe or what products they should use.

Your lovable Grey Beard Biker thinks all celebrities would benefit from taking a lesson from Mark Wahlberg.
